The thermal engine protection relays CMMSE and CMMSS are used to control engines with PTC temperature sensors. The temperature sensors are installed in the winding of the engines and directly measure the engine heating. This allows for direct control and evaluation of different operating conditions. Depending on the product, ATEXs are also available for use in hazardous areas. ABB also offers PTC temperature sensor C011 (according to DIN 44081), which can be embedded in engine winding.
