The ABB Safeball is an innovative and ergonomic machine control system. It consists of a ball with two built-in pressure buttons, one on each side. A light but clearly noticeable click signals the conscious trigger of the pressure keys. In order to start or operate a machine, both keys must be operated simultaneously. If one or more pressure buttons are released, a stop command is given to the machine. The ergonomic shape of the safeball is perfectly adapted to the human hand and thus supports the natural grit flex. The safeball offers a high level of manipulation security and thus reduces the risk of injury. The easy connection to the AS-i bus and the fact that no cover of the control parts is required make the safeball flexible. ABB Safeballs can be used for either single or two-hand applications. For example, two-hand controls are used on presses and semi-automatic machines with hand handling.
