The function of a capacitive sensor is based on the change of the electric field in the environment in front of its active zone. The sensor works with an oscillator. The capacity between the active electrode and the electrical earth potential is measured. By approaching a metallic or non-metallic substance to the active zone of the sensor, the capacity increases and thus influences the oscillation amplitude of the oscillator. This tilts the trigger step downstream of the oscillator and this causes the switch amplifier in the sensor to change its initial state. All sensors have a potentiometer that can be used to set the desired switching distance. These capacitive sensors are used to detect objects, teeth and all types of level monitoring of solid materials (e.g. powder, granules, pellets, etc.) and liquid materials (e.g. water, oil, hot glue, pastes, acids, etc.). Application examples Integration in machine parts under rough industry surrounding presence control of metal parts with different dimensions Detection of object heights, e.g. metal parts on conveyor belts Object acquisition through non-metallic container and pipe walls
